Top 5 Exam Tips There is not a lot of time in the IELTS exam and there is quite a lot of work to do. So the most important tip is to Plan your time Set a time limit for each question and practice answering questions in that time. For example Part 1 of the writing test should be done in 20 minutes and part 2 in 40 minutes. The second most important tip is to Read the questions carefully It may be obvious but it is important to only answer the question you have been asked. If you write about things that are not relevant to the answer, it will take longer and you will lose marks for writing the wrong information. No Gaps In the Reading and Listening exams you will have to fill in information to answer the questions. You will not lose marks for a wrong answer, so answer every question. A gap gives you no marks. Even if you are not sure, you may have an idea about what the answer is so write it down. If you don't know, guess!!

Be accurate If your writing is not clear and has many grammatical errors the examiner will not be able to understand what you have written and you will lose marks. Don't Panic It is very easy for me to say this but much harder for you to do. However, try to be as calm as you can. If you are more relaxed, you will be able to do your best. Take a big, deep breath before you read the first question. Take some water into the exam room with you and take regular small drinks. |
